Anant ‘Pro’ Purohit: Winner of the Sunday Superstack at Spartan Poker

Anand ’Pro’ Purohit is not a new name in the Indian poker scene and is considered one of the veterans in the country. Sitting comfortably in the top rankings of Indian poker players on every platform, Anand Purohit has over ₹5.91 Crore in total poker winnings and has been the winner of over 100 tournaments in his glorious poker journey. Something similar happened at Spartan Poker last week.

The main event at Spartan Poker on Sunday, the Sunday Superstack 35 lacs GTD with703 players battle it out for supremacy. While there was no millionaire poker tournament for the first time in a few weeks at Spartan Poker, the excitement was high as ever. Anant went on emerge the winner of the Sunday Superstack tournament and cashed in the ₹6.80 Lakhs top prize. He comfortably defeated the next best, hemflying1, who won ₹4.28 Lakhs for standing second. Preceding the Sunday bonanza, he also won the Titan Stack 13 Lacs GTD tournament at Spartan Poker just one day earlier.

Only last week as well, the Tuesday headliner at Spartan Poker was the ₹7 Lakhs GTD The Race, with a buy-in of ₹1,650. While 509 players held their hopes to become the winner of the tournament, it was none other than Anand ‘Pro’ Purohit, who won the title and ₹1.30 Lakhs that came along with it. The next in line was Srijan ‘TheDawnFacere’ Batra, who was the runner up and won ₹1.12 Lakhs.

Last year, Anant became the biggest winner at DPT Xpress Goa, and cashed in two events at the series and stood 9th at one event, to take home quite some poker winnings. The major prize money of ₹7.4 Lacs came from the 15K Main Event, which drew a record-shattering 205 entries, where Anant eliminated some of the top contenders from the event and went on to be the crowned champion. He also represented India at the 2020 WSOP Online in August, and the team had quite a good show at the event.

With almost a decade-long experience of playing poker, Anant is nearing to the ‘6 Crore club’ with over ₹5.9 Crore in poker winnings, and just a few Lacs remaining to get the goal. One of the regulars of the game, Anant has seen ups and downs in his poker career but is on a steady roll for quite some time now. The ‘Pro’, certainly lives up to his name as he ships the major tournaments.
