PokerStars announced a $100 million SCOOP, so GGPoker announced a $150 Million festival to rival it with low, medium, and high buy-ins.
The first major clash of the year in the global online poker industry is about to unfold! GGPoker has revealed its third major festival for 2021: GG Spring Festival, and it comes with an earth-shattering $150 million in guarantees.
Last week, PokerStars announced the Spring Championship of Online Poker which starts this Sunday. If you have been wondering why in recent years PokerStars has been announcing their major festivals at a short notice, it is because there has been a trend where other operators announce rival series to piggyback on the big PokerStars festivals.
While SCOOP 2021 has 102 events, the GG Spring Festival has 110 events. All these events have a tournament at the low, medium or high buy-in-tier. The GG Spring Festival takes place on April 4 to April 25, just like SCOOP.
This is going to be the biggest online poker event of all time and will blow a lot of people’s mindssaid GGPoker ambassador Daniel Negreanu.
More than a third of the GG Spring Festival events – 39 – have a guarantee of at least $1 million. Oh, and guess what? GGPoker has tabbed April 25 as its big “Main Event” day, just like PokerStars.
GG Spring Festival Events:
- $1,500 No-Limit Hold’em GGSF Main Event – $10 million guarantee
- $10,300 No-Limit Hold’em GGSF Main Event – $10 million guarantee
- $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha GGSF Main Event – $2 million guarantee
- $5,250 Bounty Hunters Main Event – $2 million guarantee
- $525 Bounty Hunters Main Event – $1.25 million guarantee
- $52.50 Bounty Hunters Main Event – $200,000 guarantee
- $1,050 High Rollers Main Event – $1 million guarantee
- $250 Sunday Main Event – $500,000 guarantee
Leading up to the biggest events of the series, a number of spotlight tournaments are sure to draw large fields. In Week One, dubbed the “Opening Stage”, both the Opening Act-L $80 NLHE with a $1 million guarantee and the Opening Act-L $80 PLO with $500,000 guaranteed will have mid-stakes players ready to boost their bankrolls.
In Week Two (aka Headliner Stage), in addition to two of the largest guaranteed tournaments, there’s also a $400 PLO-NL event with another $1 million on the line.
Finally, in Week Three – dubbed the Main Stage – joining the $1,500 Main Event, is a $1,500 PLO-NL Main Event that carries a $2 million guarantee.
The series will feature plenty of Super High Roller action as well. The schedule includes 10 different $25,500 buy-in events, which, in total, accounts for $34 million of the total guarantees.
Players on the other end of the spectrum are well-catered to as well with more than 100 events carrying a buy-in of less than $100. There are plenty of six-figure guarantees to go along with them including the $25 Mini Main Event, the $25 GGMasters, and the $30 Sunday Marathon all of which will have at least $100K in the prize pool.
GGPoker is incentivizing players to participate with more than just aggressive tournament guarantees. They are putting up $1 million in total leaderboard prizes which can be won over the course of the entire series.
In Weeks 1 and 2, $300,000 will be handed out to players over the three different tiers of Low, Medium, and High. Then, as the festival heads into the home stretch, Week 3 leaders will divvy up $400,000 in prizes.
Of course, GGPoker has plans to showcase some of the biggest events on their broadcast channels with the final tables with all three of the prize-pool-boosted Super MILLION$ taking center stage on GGPoker.TV

So take your pick. As mentioned, the nice thing about online poker is that you can play on more than one site at once, so if you have the bankroll and ability to multi-table, you have a ton of options in April.
