Even during the coronavirus pandemic and ongoing restrictions, the poker fans can look forward to an eventful year-end. The 2020 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event is scheduled to be played in an online-live mix. That’s right; we will have a 2020 WSOP Champion.
WSOP Main Event 2020 Tournament Rules
One portion of the main event will take place at GGPoker, where the $10,00 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em event will host international players over three flights. The no re-entry event begins with 60,000 starting chips and will commence with its Day 1a on Sunday, November 29, Day 1b on Saturday, December 5, and Day 1c on Sunday, December 6. Players will head on to Day 2 on Monday, December 7, where nine players will emerge to play on the final table.
Meanwhile, the other portion of the event will take place at the WSOP website, and players from Nevada and New jersey can opt for a $10,000 buy-in freezeout on the website. The Day 1 flight will be held on Sunday, December 13, and Day 2 event will take place on Monday, December 14, with the players battling it out for the final table, which only has nine spots to offer.
The final tables of both the WSOP main event December tournaments will be played live. The GGPoker finalists will meet on Tuesday, December 15, at King’s Casino in the Czech Republic. On the other hand, the WSOP.com finalists will play for the crown at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, on Monday, December 28.
Interestingly, players are only allowed to play only one of the two tournaments, and taking part in both the international and domestic tournaments is forbidden. The information of players entering the tournament will be shared between the two websites to restrict players from entering both the tournaments.
Once both the tournaments have their winners, a special heads-up finale will take place at the Rio in Las Vegas on December 30. The winner of this final event will take home an additional $1,000,000 and a WSOP bracelet, along with the title of the 2020 WSOP Champion. The bracelet will be the only one that will be awarded this year.
